Work

These days I work for Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit.

I research and describe customer needs, to help make sure we build the best office software possible for Macintosh computers. I love the work, the products, and the people. The people are particularly awesome—owing to their skill, energy, decency, wacky humor, and well regulated sense of self importance.

As a consequence of my good fortune in this role, I am now not available for freelance gigs. However, if you're curious to see what I do outside my day job and in previous lives, here's a few things:

Writing

McSweeney's
I wrote this short humor bit about an insane commercial pilot for one of my favorite online publications.

Mungo Park
I got to go motorycycling with Lyle Lovett and Malcolm Smith for 10 days in Chile.

New York Times Sunday Magazine
I wrote a couple of very short pieces for this bad boy.

Research

National Parks Conservation Association
I investigated business leaders' attitudes toward conservation and land use in Flathead County, Montana, for a very cool organization and conservation champion, Steve Thompson

All of my other research is owned by my employers. There's lots of it though.
