Work

These days I work for the Microsoft's Macintosh Business Unit.

I research and describe customer needs, to help make sure we build the best office software possible for Macintosh computers. I love the work, the products, and the people. The people are particularly awesome—owing to their skill, energy, decency, wacky humor, and well regulated sense of self importance.

As a consequence of my good fortune in this role, I am now not available for freelance gigs. However, if you're curious to see what I do outside my day job and in previous lives, here's a few things:

Writing

McSweeney's
I wrote this short humor bit about an insane commercial pilot for one of my favorite online publications.

Mungo Park
I got to go motorycycling with Lyle Lovett and Malcolm Smith for 10 days in Chile.

New York Times Sunday Magazine
I wrote a couple of very short pieces for this bad boy.

Photography

My Casual Photography
Examples of my offhand snapping can be seen at my photoblog, if you're interested.

Portfolio
My modest but evolving portfolio can be viewed here, should you be into that sort of thing.

Research

National Parks Conservation Association
I investigated business leaders' attitudes toward conservation and land use in Flathead County, Montana, for a very cool organization and conservation champion, Steve Thompson
